Look Back at 2011

We had a moderate earthquake (5.5 on the Richter scale) this morning at 0743 that shook up Lady E. and jolted me into action. The month has slipped by and I had still not written my annual kickoff post, viz. the look back at the year that has just passed.

Simply put, 2011 was a terrific year for the Rising Family™.  We spent three-quarters of 2011 in Yokohama, and getting into the groove of living here consumed most of our energy. Lots happened: for us, most of what transpired was good, despite the larger troubles afflicting Japan during the past year. Yes, I am referring to the thousands who died in the quake and tsunami on March 11, and the ongoing strife caused by the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.

So we are lucky and happy. I hope the following photos offer a glimpse of that.

January: Lady E. turns four

February: Cold and winter deflected by chonmage hairstyle.
March: Not much happening. Nice sunset instead.

April: Elena keeps on improving in her swimming. Scuba diving ahoy!

May: Move to Yokohama. More parks than you would think. Horse riding enabled!

June: Brother graduates Uni. But I do not feel old.

July: Heat kicks in after rainy season. Escape heat by pool on our front yard. (No lawnmower necessary here folks!)

August: Visit Hiroshima. Hit the beach with friends.

September: Parents visit in late Sept. Long overdue, and a great time for all.

October: Nice visit with JK at his hacienda outside Tokyo.

November: Girls asleep. Well, this happens any month, really. But funny.

December: Christmas in Guam. Tropical trumps subzero, no question.
